Designed exclusively for Lancaster Farm Sanctuary by our supremely talented friends Ryan and Matt Murry of the renowned Black Veil Studio⁠ in Salem, Massachusetts.

At the center of this hauntingly gorgeous design is our friend Jake, a rooster who nearly lost his life on a freezing December night in 2022. Jake was found badly injured in the middle of a road on a pitch-black, bitterly cold night. We weren’t sure he would survive until morning…But he did. This December marks four years since Jake’s rescue. Four years of safety, friendship, and love. Four years of a life that almost never was.

Every element of this design tells a piece of our Sanctuary’s story. The original gable-end window of our first barn rises above Jake, like a watchful eye looking out over the Sanctuary. For years, it has stood witness to countless lives finding refuge here. Animals who arrived frightened and forgotten, and who have gone on to build lives filled with safety and love. The flowers surrounding Jake are a tribute to the gardens of LFS, the pollinators, and the countless small lives that find a home here. Above Jake, a small bird carries a glowing heart through the darkness, representing the depths of the animals with whom we share this world. Their capacity to feel, to love, to grieve. Each of them carries a heart that burns just as brightly as our own, if only we take the time to see it. And above it all, the crescent moon hangs in the Halloween night, a symbol of transformation and renewal. As the seasons change and darkness grows, it reminds us that even the darkest nights give way to new beginnings.
