Animal farming in Pennsylvania generates more than four point three billion dollars in sales each year, according to the Department of Agriculture.

Lancaster County is a mecca for farming and now home to a farm animal sanctuary.

Mowki the cow was born on a dairy farm in Central PA.

“She is what is known as a freemartin. So, she was born sterile,” says Sarah Salluzzo, executive director of Lancaster Farm Sanctuary.

A sterile calf on a dairy farm serves little purpose.

“She was actually going to be sold for dog food,” adds Salluzzo.

Salluzzo and her partner said goodbye to the city life and moved to the farm. [Read More]
